About Us

Our Mission: The Athens Continuum

Parvis Exeter Academy is built on a single, powerful idea: that education should be a seamless, integrated continuum, not a series of disconnected chapters. We founded this institution to bridge the artificial gaps that exist between the intellectual discovery of high school, the rigorous specialisation of undergraduate study, and the boundary-pushing inquiry of postgraduate research.

We are a complete academic ecosystem. Our home in Athens is no accident. We are situated in a city that represents the very cradle of Western thought, a place where philosophy, art, and science converged. This classical spirit of holistic inquiry infuses everything we do. We challenge our students to see connections, not just compartments. Our high school students (The Academy) share resources and interact with university faculty, our undergraduates engage in meaningful research often reserved for graduates, and our postgraduates mentor and teach, refining their own expertise in the process.

This model, which we call ‘The Athens Continuum’, is designed to cultivate intellectual maturity. It fosters deep, lasting relationships between students and faculty. It allows for a learning journey that is patient, profound, and personalised. We are not a factory for degrees; we are a community dedicated to the deliberate, sometimes messy, and always fascinating process of building a thoughtful and impactful life.

A Hellenic Heart, A Global Mind

To be in Athens is to be in dialogue with history. Our location at Pesmazoglou Street places us at the nexus of the ancient and the modern. This environment provides an unparalleled “living laboratory” for our students.

Our designers and artists draw inspiration from the proportions of the Parthenon and the vibrant energy of contemporary Athenian street art. Our computer scientists and ethicists debate the future of AI just a short walk from the Agora where Socrates first questioned the nature of justice. Our economics and governance students witness global policy and financial currents converge in one of Europe’s most historic capitals.

But while our heart is Hellenic, our mind is global. Parvis Exeter is a crossroads, attracting a diverse cohort of students and faculty from around the world. We are proudly international, believing that the most critical problems of the 21st century can only be solved by a multitude of perspectives. We are not an expatriate bubble; we are an institution deeply embedded in our host city, contributing to its intellectual and cultural life while providing a gateway to the world for our community.

Our Unique Structure

Our institution is organised into two interconnected wings:

  • The Academy (High School): This is the foundation of the continuum. We offer rigorous A-Level and International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programmes. This is not simply a ‘prep school’. It is the first stage of a university-level intellectual journey. Academy students have access to university libraries, participate in specialised workshops led by postgraduate fellows, and are mentored in a way that prepares them for the why of higher education, not just the how of passing exams.
  • The University (Undergraduate & Postgraduate): This wing encompasses our BA/BSc faculties and our MA/MSc/MBA postgraduate and research centres. Here, the specialisation deepens. The transition from our Academy is seamless, but we equally welcome a large and vibrant cohort of students who join us from other top institutions across the globe, enriching our community with new ideas and experiences.

The true magic happens at the intersection. We encourage ‘vertical collaboration’—research projects that might involve a leading MA researcher, an ambitious BSc undergraduate, and a curious A-Level student. This structure dismantles the traditional hierarchy and fosters a genuine, campus-wide culture of shared discovery.

The Parvis Exeter Community

We are, by design, a selective and close-knit community. We value intellectual honesty, rigorous debate, and what we call “collaborative failure.” We believe that true innovation happens when one is not afraid to be wrong in the pursuit of being right. Our students are competitive, but with the subject matter, not with each other.

Our faculty are more than lecturers; they are active researchers, practitioners, and mentors. They are drawn here by the unique opportunity to teach across the entire spectrum of a student’s development. We are a community that eats together, debates together, and builds together. We are defined not by our buildings, but by the quality of the conversations that happen within them. We are, in the truest sense, a modern scholé—a place of dedicated, purposeful leisure for the mind.
